Valo Cellars is former chef Michael Ruhland’s passion project. In many ways, getting the winery and tasting room up and running has been a one man show, but of course, nothing gets created in a void. There are countless people who have been a part of his journey into the wine world and supported him as he’s learned how to make wine—drinking wine has always been a masterful part of his skill set. Meet the main faces of Valo Cellars below.


Vintner Michael Ruhland has been immersed in the wine world for over ten years. He has spent the past several chasing grapes across New Zealand, Argentina, Washington, and Oregon; his knowledge of wine and wine making spans the globe. With a chef’s background and a lifetime of accrued insight, he has lent a hand to all aspects of the wine process: from harvest, to execution, to managing wine lists and orchestrating wine dinners. He loves hunting, travel, excellent coffee, and cribbage. He is delighted to offer his experience and this delicious wine to the Gallatin Valley.


Wine tester, product photographer, social media content creator, website designer, and grilled cheese pusher, if it’s on Instagram or Facebook, she’s responsible for it. Her areas of expertise come from the design world, but she has put in a lot of hours over the last several years amping up her wine knowledge. She loves psychology, puns, beautiful spaces, and epic lighting. She is excited to help build Valo’s brand and introduce these lovely wines to as many residents (and visitors) of the Gallatin Valley as possible.
